Advert Description

This is Santa. He has had a bit of a trim recently because of the hot weather, so he's not looking his absolute best, but he's such a handsome little guy regardless! Santa is under 2 years old and it's such a shame to put him up for sale, but we haven't been able to bond him with any of our other boars so he's on his own. He seems frustrated being housed near our boars as he wants to join them to fight them...and being housed near our sows is problematic as he wants to join them too....for different reasons!!

I think Santa would be happy in a home with no other guinea pigs, or I'm sure he'd be happiest as a breeding boar - he loves being paired off with my sows and I wish I could do it constantly so he always has a pal, but I'm slowing down on breeding.

He has produced some amazing babies - some truly fantastic colour combos, as he appears to have interesting genetics beyond just being white and black. His litters tend to be large in number - he's had 4, 7, 5, 4 - and all the pups have been healthy and of good size. He's small himself, which has made him ideal to pair with my smaller sows so they don't have trouble birthing the babies, but to be honest they've all ended up bigger than him eventually!

He's a lunk, but not show quality, with fairly poor curls - which hasn't been a problem for me as I breed for temperament. But when he has been paired with my pedigree lunk they produced THE curliest babies!

He's easy to catch and doesn't mind having a fuss made of him. He's a bit of a nibbler but it's out of frustration to get to my other guinea pigs - when I take him down the other end of the garden away from them, he's good as gold!
