Advert Description

Here, for sale, is a set of Highland Bagpipes of rare quality from the legendery workshop of Peter Henderson, Glasgow, from no later than 1930, the golden age of Henderson bagpipe making: Pre-War Henderson bagpipes are considered by connoissuers to be magnificent in every regard. They are also listed on Gumtree in more detail.
These particular bagpipes were clearly created by an instrument maker of rare skill and talent. The bagpipes are in African Blackwood of an exceptional quality, hardness and weight. Blackwood of this quality is simply no longer available, even to today's premium end bagpipe makers; the drone bores shine when you look through them (which i have attempted to show with one of the photos) with no evidence of any eccentric movement upon rotation of the drone top joints on the bottom joints (common in more standard type instuments) all mounted in plain solid sterling silver ferrules, tuning slides and drone caps.
The sound! The sound is a truly remarkable phenomenon; it is pure pre-war Henderson: clear, sonorous, solidly steady and mesmerisingly emersive. Included is my African Blackwood solo chanter by David Naill, which all combines to produce an exceptional sound, fit for the solist connoissuer. They will also come supplied with an un-fitted, brand new, James C. Begg Sheepskin bag.
it is now time for her to move on to her next owner, to cherish her as she deserves.
I am aware of the significant nature of a purchase (and sale) of an item such as this so i am prepared to meet buyers from Scotland half-way (eg. Manchester area).
