Advert Description

I have 10 castrated males, done by a vet to ensure they have a long and healthy life. Castrated males known as wethers produce a finer quality fiber for longer than an intact female or male goat.

ages range from 2023 born to 2021 born, so oldest are now fully grown but will mostly stay smaller in stature than an entire billy.
Temperament seems to be much more mellow and obviously more energy can be concentrated on fiber production.

They require shearing twice a year, growing 12 inches of fiber per year.

A superb animal to keep to improve grazing land as they often browse weeds and hedgerows that sheep horses and cows don't.
Make great companion animals.

Will be sold in minimum groups of 3 or 4, as they are simply not relaxed and do not do well in smaller numbers, the larger the group the more settled they are as they are quite a sensitive clever animal.

Up to date on all vaccinations, worm count completed mid May 2024 and external parasite treatment. Currently in almost full coat.

require shelter as the coat does not shed rain like a sheep, but will always shelter if required.

A wonderful breed to keep, great for natural fiber production Mohair that can be used in an array of different ways, spinning, knitting, needle felting, teddy bear/doll making, furniture repair etc.
